BIOGRAPHY
"Passion, Music, and Indie Dreams"
Classical / Pop Rock baritenor Jason Kolman has always known he would one day sing the great melodies and lyrics that define vocalists with his brand of interpretative talents, such as Andrea Bocelli, Meat Loaf, or Josh Groban, but he never anticipated it could be a possible thing to do as an independent artist. Yet the 28 years old singer from Raleigh, NC has set out to go on the long venture of writing, recording and producing his own music, with the firm intent of releasing it for the world to hear.
"Theatre Debuts"
As a singer Jason got his first stage break in 2001 when directors of various theatrical productions in Queens, NY and North Carolina cast him in their plays after noticing his remarkable command of the stage and gutsy vocals. There, Jason discovered the great musicals of our time like Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. "Theater is where I got most of my training, he says. I did it all: musical, plays, and even street theater. It was an irreplaceable learning experience, but eventually I decided that I wanted to do was create a set vision with an album and reach an audience of my own." With that mindset, he entered several singing competitions online and in 2004 a 3rd placing on The Next Best Thing contest led to the recording of his first song, the uplifting pop-rock number "Reach".
