Lloyds Bank Hates Goths?
Dec 11, 2007
Lloyds Bank Hates Goths? Lloyds Bank Hates Goths? (Warning, this is a long blog post) When you reach a certain age, and you are still involved in what many people consider to be a "youth movement" (namely the Gothic subculture), you have usually got to your position in life because of what is inside your head and heart, and not because of your hairstyle or length, or the clothes that you choose to wear. You get the usual chav insults on a day to day basis, but you expect that for all the usual and many sociological and conformist cultural arguments that have been mentioned many times, in many forums and articles both on this site and on many others. You do however, tend to forget that discriminatory and prejudiced attitudes are still prevalent at many other "walks of life", but because of your job or occupation, and how on the main you are accepted for who you are and have done, you tend to forget this. Recently I noticed that there had been some suspected unwarranted activity in my Lloyds personal classic account. I went through a frustrating series of phone calls, letters etc and I asked a financial adviser at Lloyds to do a few things as well as to look into as to why the activity had happened. I patiently waited for two weeks for something that approximated an explanation from Lloyds Bank, but received nothing, and so I decided to visit my local branch, a branch where I have had numerous business, special interest and personal and savings accounts for over 26 years. I arrived without appointment, but was fortunate to meet with the aforementioned financial adviser, who informed me of the state of affairs regarding the situation. Although several points were addressed, I was still not happy and wanted to lodge an investigation into why there was this activity in my personal account and why it had taken place, admittedly the situation had occurred some years ago, (November 2004 to be precise) but the affects and repercussions of this event have had and are having long lasting effects and implications, namely in regards my pension! I was informed that it was possible to see a manager in order to take things to the next stage and I had to wait a little while to see said manager. This was something I was prepared to do as I didn't want to fill in yet another form, as well as to try and get more time off work in order to come to the bank yet again for something that I have not instigated in the first place, namely the activity in my bank in November 2004. After a short wait of about 20 mins my "audience" with the manager began. A rather hurried and grey man arrived and ushered me into a clinical glass (probably soundproofed) office like room away from the main area of the bank. I sat down, he sat down, semi leant over the desk, and clasped and interlocked his chubby fingers and said: "What do you want ME to do?" I was semi taken aback as his manner which was a little less considered and curious than any of his colleagues that I had met, and was tinged with what could be considered as a little confrontational attitude. I was however, even at this point hopeful that I had met a plain speaking south Yorkshire man, who was used to no nonsense, and would talk to me plainly and considerately. I related to him the story of events so far and he listened to what I had to say with barely concealed distaste and annoyance as he looked me up and down and his eyes constantly flicking back to the t-shirt I was wearing. Which was, for me typical clothes. Black combat jeans, New Rock boots, black hoodie and a "Corpus Delicti" t-shirt which depicted this French band in their prime. All of the band were wearing make up e.t.c. and surrounded female drummer Roma who was clad in fishnet tights over her arms and her eyes resplendent in Siouxie Sioux style make up. It's a nice picture, hence being on the front of a t
