Sion: I started playing guitar in the late-1970's when I was given a clapped-out bass from a member of my Dad's rock band, Dragonfly. Later I picked up my Mum's Spanish guitar and taught myself Dylan's Mr Tambourine Man and Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. I got my first electric guitar in 1999, from a friend, Sean Delph, a busker from Jersey living in Brighton. He said his first guitar, a vintage Squier strat, was going to a good home. I taught myself barre chords and power chords by playing Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, plus the Sex Pistols. My first lessons were with a young guy called Luke Browning. He taught me the basics of lead playing, including Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. Since then, I have been teraching myself some metal techniques and writing a shed load of my own stuff. I have played in several bands: Zenith, Peazeniks, Infra Rouge, Crossfire, Unrelinquished, Glass Candle Grenades, Headzoom and now Darqroom.
