Winner of MTV Arabia’s Season 1 Hip HopNa show, Omar Aly Al-Missiry, known as Omar Boflot aka B.O.F, is recording his first video with Producer Fareed “Fredwreck” Nassar. Fredwreck has worked with rappers such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. Boflot is the first winner of the Hip HopNa show. He won a brand new Dodge Charger along with a video shoot. Before going on Hip HopNa, Boflot self-recorded and produced his tracks, releasing them online since 2000. His talent was underground, but winning Hip HopNa has surfaced it and given him a great start. He notes how “this video is enough to start my journey with record labels.” Boflot is a half Egyptian half Pilipino rapper. He started rapping since 1995 in night clubs in Ghana and then joined a band called “Patty Riddaz,” which means party riders. The band was unique to the Ghana community as it consisted of two Ghana rappers and one Egyptian rapper. Patty Riddaz performed on a weekly show called “fun world” and were aired every fortnight on Ghana TV. “The crowds’ reaction was great. This lead to the channel calling us to do more activities,” he said. Boflot continued with the Patty Riddaz until he returned to Egypt in 1998. He eventually met Yassin Zahran, a half Egyptian half Algerian rapper, who like Boflot rapped in French and English. They developed a close friendship and in 2001 they decided to rap in Arabic. As a result they formed the group Y-Crew. Boflot explained how he then “thought of rap as a career. People were interested in hearing rap in a language they understand. So this helped us move fast.” Boflot’s musical lyrics are based on “what we feel,” he said. He tries to address issues on behalf of the people of the Arab world. The support of Boflot’s family, friends and especially Hip HopNa Hosts Fredwreck and Qusai pushed him to follow this path and keep pursuing his dream which is to one day become a renowned producer. “I want to pass hip hop on to others. It’s my target till death,” he said. Currently, Boflot is building his underground studio and working on his TV show “Make it Happen.” Information about that is still to be announced. He is also working on tracks with artists from the middle east and international artists. “This is our time now, let’s move,” is what Boflot wants to say to all the underground rappers across the middle east. Born in Nigeria then moved from here to there and so on and stopped in Ghana in 1993. That was when Omar Boflot joined an underground band called Patty Riddaz which meant "Party Riders". Omar learnt the roots of true Hip Hop to the fullest untill one day had to leave for Egypt suddenly. It was then he met Yassin "9mm" aka "alien X" 1998 and formed a band who loved to to rap for no reason (runs both in their blood), at that time there was no such thing as arabic rap so the boys used English and French to rap for fun. They soon realized that people loved thier music but were not interested in the lyrics, that was bec they prefered to listen to arabic love songs bec they could understand. In no time Yassin and Omar Decieded to changed the band name and language of the rap lyrics so that thier msg could be in a whole new level, they called themselves Y crew and rapped about interesting topics that got the attention of the fans. few shows from here and there made differences but as Alexandria is not the capital and there is no activities as expected,Y crew stays underground
