Katherine began studies on the Celtic harp at age thirteen; three years later she moved to Concert harp and seriously began to pursue her childhood dream of being a musician. While still in High School, she began to freelance and perform for community functions. She played with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra for their 1999-2000 season, and appeared with the Fredericton Chamber Players in their 1999 presentation of The Nutcracker Suite. In 2000, Katherine headed to the University of Western Ontario, in London ON, with the Von Kuster Music Faculty Scholarship and a NB Arts Board Scholarship. While in London, she performed professionally with the London Youth Orchestra, London Community Orchestra, the International Symphony Orchestra, and the highly acclaimed Amabile Singers. She graduated in October 2004 receiving a Bachelor of Music in Honours Performance with distinction. She spent three years living in Toronto and studying with harpist Judy Loman. During which time she performed freelance, in the Greater Toronto Area and York Region, solo and as part of the Jackson Fitch Duo. A highlight from this period was performing in a harp trio concert presented by the Toronto Harp Society. The next 3 years saw Katherine performing on 5 star cruise ships while sailing the world including the Caribbean, UK, Baltic, Mediteranean and Asia. She now resides in Halifax NS with her musician husband.
