Raised on the rich musical legacy that the city of Detroit has contributed to modern music, 31 third co-founder Andre Harris AKA Mista Ecks is all about making music his way. I let my music speak for itself, there's no need to resort to any of the cliches that run rampant in not only hip hop but modern music in general. Mista Ecks' began his musical journey in 1992 as a gangsta/horrorcore rapper when he joined his first group "Next of Kin". Two years later, then known as Dre D. Madman signed to the now defunct Detroit based Fearless Entertainment. Even though Ecks and Fearless ended up parting ways before his first album was completed, it was there where Ecks was taught production techniques from Fearless CEO Gary Fears. Ecks took what he learned and joined his second group WCT (Wayne County Thugs) and produced and wrote a lot of their first album "The Project" in 1996. Ten years later, Mista Ecks along with co-founder Crysti Jade started 31Third Entertainment. Around the same time, Ecks had become fed up with the current state of hip hop at the time, and his sound had evolved from gritty bass driven horrorcore/gangsta rap to A more laid back Neo Soul/Acid Jazz influenced sound as reflected by his 2007 album "Shock and Awe" and the 2009 EP "No Gimmicks". His latest project "Blue Collar Music" will be released and available for download in 2011. The first single "See it in your eyes", a duet with Anisha Rene is available for free download now.
