I've been playing guitar since 1980, and have been in bands since 1988. I've done a healthy mix of covers and originals, and I gig an average of 50 times a year. Music is both a career and hobby. The business side is that I help run a publishing company. The hobby side is where I get to do all of my playing and writing.
