Jon Cheney is an up and coming artist with a love for the piano that is matched by few. He started playing the piano over 20 years ago, and began composing his own music when he was just 17 years old. He published 3 CDs in 2004 and 2005, but he then spent two years in Taiwan serving a mission for his church. Jon worked hard to graduate from college in Chinese and business, and has kept his music a large part of his life during that time, continuing to compose and perform whenever given the opportunity.
Now, Jon is preparing to release his first album on iTunes on November 18th of this year. His music would be characterized as new age piano, although his influence comes mostly from the great movie composers that have come over the years. John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and Klaus Badelt are just a few of the composers Jon listens to often and has gotten so much inspiration from. He also enjoys the unique and increasingly popular arrangements released by The Piano Guys and the Salt Lake Pops Studio Orchestra, of which he is a member.
When not involved in music, it is not uncommon to find Jon on the closest river in his kayak, or spending time with his wife and dog in Provo, UT.
