Born and raised in Oakland Ca, D. Burton began singing at the age 3, and like many other performers before him, started perfecting his craft singing in church. By the time D. was six he became a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Choir and before he became one of their premiere vocalist.
As long as D. Could remember, he has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the great performers. So to help hone his ability he studied such great artist as Ron Isley, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Nat King Cole,Sam cook, El Debarge, and R. Kelly.
While in the 7th grade D. Burton became a member of his first singing group. although the singing group didn't last, D. did get his first experience recording in the studio and realized that he was born to do this.
Even though D.Burton was young, he knew that if he was going to make it in the music business, he would have to take his singing and his voice serious. So, at the age of thirteen, D. began studying singing with one of Oakland's legendary vocal teachers, Jeanette Crosby.
After years of training , Jeanette was so impressed with D's vocal ability that she felt he was ready to take the next step in his musical career. So, with one phone call, she introduced D. Burton to one of Oakland's Hottest local production companies, Mystery House Productions (No Longer Together).
