Bassist Kevin Fields has been in the Portland music scene for over a decade. After a prior 8 year hiatus to get married and get a degree to "change my life for the better" I couldn't stay away and it seemed at the time that music was alive and well in the clubs here in Portland. A Rock musician all my life playing Rhythm Guitar and drums in high school until I heard Rush and then soon after Eddy Vanhalen did his thing on there first album, I decided to start playing bass and singing Back up Vocals so in 1978 I purchased a Bass and started playing. The Yanks Formed as a Bar Band from the ashes of other Bands and individuals I had played with over the few years since moving back. Jamie Mehan and I met through an add in 2000, I listened to his original music and was very inspired to work with him. He had a predisposition to blues but you can hear the rock when he played, a very good thing for some one like me that really had no experience with the blues, except when I would get really hammered and just sway with the crowd at the blues front water festival happening in the Portland lagoon sitting in the boat for a week and shedding the strife of life there. After a few years we took his original music and put it to disk along with a 3 songs from two other guitarist we had at the time, The CD was Called The Yanks Deep Wood and was done as a promo to get more gigs.
