At the young age of 20, Jarvon "Jay Murda" Shelton was given his first 15 seconds of fame. While on his second tour in Iraq he was introduced to Charles "The Duke" Williams, head of Duke Em' Down Records through his close friend E Money. After an impressive on the spot freestyle, Jay was told he would be given the opportunity to become Duke Em' Down's goldenchild. Months passed before Jay was able to return home and get into the studio. He spent his time working and writing whenever he had the chance while overseas. After finally returning from Iraq to Las Vegas; Jay Murda hooked up with the Duke, DJ Bizrok, Los, and a handful of other artists on the Duke Em' Down roster. Together they produced the debut album, The Red Book. The Red Book consisted of the smash hit singles, Pain and Heart Of The City. The Red Book sold over 1,000 copies independently. At that very moment history was in the making and Jay Murda became heir to the throne. But before all the fortune and fame could be enjoyed, Jay had to overcome the trials and tribulations of being kicked out of the military. Jay set out on a journey back home to the stomping grounds of East St Louis to accomplish his dream. While back home he formed the group, "Midwest Mademen," with the help of his cousin Earl "E Peezy" Perkins in early 2005. Midwest Mademen is a product of intellectual actions through music. Mademen is based off the intricate design of young moguls getting money and sticking together as family.
