Mad Ripple
Mar 31, 2007
Just returned from one of Jim Walsh's Mad Ripple Hootenannies in the basement of Java Jack's. The guy's really nailed it this time in terms of giving the TC music scene something it needs. I don't know that, after fifteen years or so in this environment, I've seen something so community-oriented and positive. A very inspiring night. When I got home, I grabbed a guitar and started playing almost immediately. When I tired of that, I went right to work on the song I have in progress in the studio. I hope JIm asks me to be a part of it sometime.
no offense

For anyone who happens along this profile... I'm not interested in the whole "myspace friend gathering" deal. Please don't bother with friend requests. I deleted my space on myspace after about two weeks when I started to figure out that was the deal. It's not a matter of getting freaked out or anything about it...I know I'm not committing to being anyone's friend in real life and all that. It's just not the kind of 'community' I want to be a part of. No offense. The next question, I'm sure, is why I'd be a part of Soundclick, and it's a good one. Simply, the site was not always like this. For me, it'll be a place to host music and pretty much just a place to host music and give people who follow my music a place to get info. If the myspace-y side ever overtakes the music hosting sides of soundclick, I'll sadly look for another provider. Again, take no offense if I deny your friend requests. I'm just not...well, trying to make friends.
not sure

Not sure what to make of all the soundclick moves toward myspacery, but, as a big fan of political blogs, I must admit I like the idea of having a space to blog. Who knows, maybe I'll use it someday. Probably no need, however, as anything that happens to be worth sharing in my mind usually comes out in song. Songs that can be found among the mp3 music I have posted on the music side of soundclick, pretty much as soon as they are recorded. When the time comes, though, that I want to preserve or broadcast some of the more rambling, less song-ready ideas rattling around up here, this blog will where I'll come first.
