MelonFarmer is an exciting, original 4 piece rock band. A blend of complex rhythm section, elegant guitar and powerful vocals, combined with slick, catchy tunes, always performed with extreme energy.
2006 is looking busy for MelonFarmer..following the recording of its new “Time EP” in February, there have been a number of gigs already, showcasing new material, which has been very well received, by audiences, promoters and by record labels.
The band is keen to constantly move on and push the boundaries, with hard work, but also to enjoy doing what it does best entertain.
MelonFarmer are ambitious and want to know how far they can get, using their original material, technical ability, experience and live flairBand/artist history
MelonFarmer was formed in early 2003, by three members originally. Mike Russell (guitar) and Jason Bailey (drums) had been playing in bands in and around Bath for some eight years. The bands were a mix of modern rock covers and original material. As well as gaining invaluable gig experience, a good appreciation of each others styles was learned, which became the foundation of what was to come.
After the split of the last band it was time to start looking for someone who could make that difference.
The third member was Graeme Del-Nevo. With vast experience, technical and creative ability and buckets of enthusiasm to offer, this was just what was required.
The old material was ditched in favour of writing original songs. The line up was Mike (guitar & vocals), Graeme (bass) and Jason (drums).
After 12 months of writing and creating the MelonFarmer style, the band was ready to show its material to fresh audiences.
After receiving critical praise of the first album and the accompanying gigs, Mike decided to reluctantly throw in the towel, as long term plans of emigrating to Spain had finally come around. The remaining members of MelonFarmer spent 12 months looking for suitable replacements. The band decided to move to Bristol..
After auditioning an incredible amount of guitarists, with no success and on the verge of giving up, in walks Allan Aird, from no-where..
A guitarist of immense technical ability, Allan was also very interested in the MelonFarmer style and was able to learn the existing material very quickly.
The hunt was quickly on for the final part of the jigsaw and shortly afterwards, (following some “X-Factor style auditions!), Paul Hugo was discovered..
As well as having a powerful voice and large vocal range, there was an energy about him, which made for the perfect frontman.
After 12 months of gigging and recording, Allan had to part ways with MelonFarmer, due to other commitments.
A replacement has been found in Jamie Lloyd, ex-member of Kell.
Jamie is a talented guitarist and accomplished songwriter, which adds even more fuel to MelonFarmers potential.
The next few months will include more gigs and also time spent on recording promising new material with Jamie.Have you performed in front of an audience? We play live anywhere....whenever we can...
