"Shakin Off The Enemies" "Shakin Off The Enemies"
With a crazy method of conveying his message to the masses through music, MC DOK steps on the Hip Hop scene with an in your face style of Rap only the West Coast can produce. MC DOK vibes a hybrid cross between the attitude of controversial rap icon Tupac and an African-American minister getting his preach on during Sunday Morning worship. MC DOK is a bout it brother on a mission to reach all people with the positive message of Gods love.
A product of South Central Los Angeles, MC DOKs (Donandre Jackson) formative years were spent in church. With a devout grandmother and mother, MC DOK learned early about the love God has for his creation; however as time progressed peer pressure got the best of him. Church was replaced with gang-banging, drugs and women. In the midst of a downward spiral, MC DOK always performed music. I was confused on what type of music to create, states MC DOK. I was with several rap groups; some groups promoted violence in there songs and others promoted non-violence. I was confused with my writing format. Being more of a follower, I allowed Satan to lead the way on the music I wrote and performed; so I produced negativity. After being Shooked by former groups, Donandre became Doctor Love, but during this time God was tugging at his heart to make a change.
After years of ghetto living where there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel for a African-American brother, MC DOK took inventory of his life. There must be something else to this life; something more than drugs, women, drinking, gang activity, and running from the police. I came to my senses states MC DOK;
God woke me up after all the close calls where I should have been in prison or dead. I started exploring Gods word, and accepted the teachings I had with me since childhood. From this encounter MC DOK was born.
In 2004 MC DOK writes rhymes with clarity, and follows only the voice of God regarding his music. On a mission to nourish the souls of the young and old, MC DOK is moving to the next level as he embarks on world-wide ministry.
Teaming up with producer Fortier and the DuRu Entertainment family, MC DOK is blazing a new trail in Holy Hip-Hop. As to where many artists who are known and respected in this genre are from the East Coast, MC DOK is reviving the gritty style of West Coast rap. Rap is simply a tool we use to reach out and touch the lives of people. With my style of rap, I am snatching folk back from negativity. Its time for a new philosophy on life states MC DOK.
DuRu Entertainment has teamed up with T.H.U.G.S. 4 Christ Entertainment to bring you Shakin Off The Enemies by MC DOK 2004. This project has flows for the young as well as the old. You can bang this project in your jeep or allow tracks to become anthems for Sunday morning! Whoever you are and wherever you may be in life, MC DOK has a personalized word for you.
