Band/artist history
Man In The Planet was created in early 2011 by an anonymous amateur electronic music producer from the Seattle area.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I don't even understand how making live electronic music works. I would feel like a phony simply hitting the spacebar and letting the sequencer do it's thing. Every picture and video I've ever seen of live electronic performances all look the same: A skinny white guy in his 20's moving his hands over tangled 1/4'' audio cables and all the electric equipment in his apartment while dressed as an extra from the movie Hackers. Just the thought of anyone doing that offends me. One of these days, I'll book a house party, hook my mp3 player full of shit I've made into the stereo, then chug syrup of ipecac/bleach cocktail until I am rushed to the hospital, where my encore would be the EKG flatline.
Your musical influences
Venetian Snares, Stunt Rock, Man Is The Bastard, Frank Zappa, Godflesh, Swans, Passenger Of Shit, Aphex Twin, Atari Teenage Riot, Negativland, Igorrr, Doug Stanhope, George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Opie & Anthony, GG Allin, the early 2000's, culture, people, hate, hate, hate.
What equipment do you use?
I'll use FL Studio, AudioMulch, and VirtualDJ to make shit; Adobe Audition, Audacity, and the Internet for sampling purposes. My computer is a decade-old Gateway desktop running on Windows XP. The internal fan goes off whenever I use more than one program, and there are periods where it will shut off whenever the fuck it wants to. Oh yeah, sometimes the soundcard makes a quiet, yet high-pitched tone, which gets along great with the bass. Despite all this fuck shit, half a gigabyte of RAM gives me just enough to throw some nice audio temper tantrums with. I have a guitar that used to sound a lot better, and that was back when all I would do is play Death songs and daydream about having a warm female mouth on my ballbag. Plus, I don't use it for this. Times like this I wonder if I have some kind of autism.
Anything else?
No.
