Manifest Manifest
malus is a alternative metal band based out of the midcoast Maine area with a decent size fan base and a good number of shows under their belt. their style is that along the lines of KoRn meets Sevendust meets Cold. malus is definately a band to be reckoned with...Band/artist history
and so it begins........
Formation
malus was formed in March of 2001 by Mike Lessard and Tom Waterhouse. After several months of writing, they found drummer Gabe Gilchrest, bassist Evan Waterhouse and second guitarist Jon Libby, the band was complete. For nearly two years malus shook the Maine D.Y.I. scene, releasing several EP's, until early 2003 when Gabe left due to undisclosed reasons. This left an opening which was quickly filled by drummer Nick Reuillard, thus completing malus as we know them today.Until in early 2004, they were forced to split ways with their rhythm guitarist Jon Libby. Thus, solidifying the new Malus roster.
Sound
Driven by powerfully melodic, yet angst ridden vocals, malus excels where most bands of their age fail. Instead of following the musical trend, they instead draw upon a wide variety of influences such as: 36 Crazyfists, Deftones, Tool, Korn, Sevendust and Poison the Well in order to create a fusion of metal-core and nu-metal that is sure to captivate any listener.
The Buzz
Although young, Malus is quickly gaining a vast amount of attention. From playing with larger New England acts such as: Changing Skin, Unscarred, Imprint, Melee and Soundbender, as well as national acts such as Burnt By The Sun (Relapse Records), If Hope Dies (Ironclad Recordings) and Haste The Day (Solid State Records), to getting airplay on WTOS, WCYY and WRFR, malus has brought their sound to many new fans. With a new EP in the works, Malus is the band to watch for in 2004Have you performed in front of an audience?Yeah we play live. We play mostly where ever we can get a spot. We aren't that picky when it comes to playing live. We love playing live its insane!
