Band/artist history
"In the fall of 1997, Malice in Wonderland was founded in the rainy town of Bergen, Norway. The three original members, Chri$ Wicked (synth), Rikki Foxx (guitar) and Eric Black (bass), were soon joined by Paul Prozac on vocals and guitar. Session drummers were used for gigs and recordings. Musically, the aim was to revitalise the gloomy rock which came out of Britain in the eighties, with a catchier, fresher and partly heavier sound. The band soon had a great reputation and appeared onstage several times in their hometown Bergen during the late nineties. A couple of demos were also recorded (âReducedââ and âVicious Girlâ), and in spite of low budgets and short recording time, the reviews were good. In the year 2000 MiW played several gigs in Norway, and by now a permanent drummer, Tommi Gun, had been found. Everything seemed very promising. However, problems soon appeared, as huge musical differences between Paul Prozac and the rest of the band developed. A break was inevitable and the band had to start the search for a replacement. The search, however, was not long-termed. A couple of candidates were tested, but it soon became clear that the best alternative was that synth-player/songwriter Chri$ Wicked stepped into the position as vocalist and frontman. It was time for some changes! The musical platform remained in many ways the same as before, but the band put special emphasis on putting more attitude and edge into the songs. This was partly done by bringing in inspirations from the more glamorous part of the American hard rock scene back in the eighties. December 2001 and January 2002 were spent in the studio, recording a new EP named âSin & Decadenceâ. This recording showed the new face of the band, and the four songs selected to appear here also showed the diversity in the bands song-material. A few promotional copies of the EP was handed out to a few special people, and this led to an immediate positive response: Malice in Wonderland started playing gigs again and the feedback for the new face and sound of Malice in Wonderland was overwhelming. A new member on synthesizers, Rob Cruel, was also in place. 2003 marked the start of the promotion of âSin & Decadenceâ. Good reviews were written from all over the world, and during the early months of 2003 a new permanent guitar player was recruited in Andy Valentine. In the spring of 2004 Malice in Wonderland signed a record-deal with Karisma Records and their full-length debut album will be out in March 2005." Taken from www.malice-in-wonderland.com
