Major Snagg
I've always liked The Beatles version of this song. John sings it with real conviction. So, as I'd never sing this song anywhere near as good as John, I decided to record an instrumental version of it instead.
An intentionally, 'rough at the edges', version of, 'Please Please Me', by The Beatles. I hoped to capture the immediacy and feel of a band in the studio rehearsing and working on a new song.
A very 1980s UK style Alt-Neo-Punk protest song. I do get angry with the corporate greed of the Western World at times.
My cover of a song by Bill Nelson. A hard edged New Wave ? sound. From Bill Nelson's Red Noise period post Be Bop Deluxe. This version is certainly firing on all 6 cylinders.
A song inspired by Bill Nelson's Red Noise period, and the hard edged Pop of XTC's early period. A nice slice of 1980's Pop/ Rock, for those of you who can remember that far back :)
A great song by Cream (1968) Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce & 'Ginger' Baker. I've stayed as close as I could to the original this time. This a great late 60s Power Trio Pop/Rock / Psychedelic era song. I just had to use my Yamaha Revstar RE620 on thi
A cover of a song by New York group, We Are Scientists. A song that I like because it has no un-necessary frills and has a lively 'Live' feel.
My cover of a classic song by Cream (1969) I used my new dark green Yamaha Revstar RS620 on this. I didn't want to copy Eric's guitar solo, so instead, I just, 'rolled the tapes', and, 'went for it', with my own 'take' over the chords.
This is the very first recording on which I've used my new, dark green Yamaha Revstar RS620. I think it's passed the audition
This is my second cover of a song by Wild Swans; As you may know, I'm a big fan of, 'Brit-Pop', music of the 1980s. Lots of very inventive new bands came onto the scene.
A 'Brit-Pop' ? styled song. Lots of jangly guitars and a driving bass-line. Vocals and harmonies, and hopefully, catchy guitar riffs and solos
This is a new, simpler, and 'stripped-down', version of this song. There is an earlier version that is much more, 'elaborate' in its arrangement. On the earlier version, Jesus Oldman added drums, trumpets and lively Cantina noises etc..
A cover of a great song by Marillion. This is from their album, Holidays In Eden (1991). Their original vocalist, Fish (Derek Dick) had already left the band by this stage and this album features vocals by Steve Hogarth, the band's 'new', vocalist.
This is the kind of thing that I used to create a lot more of at one time. Once again, experiments with the Yamaha PSR-E373 keyboard delivered inspiration via some bubbling Synth sounds. Those led me to the correct 'rabbit-hole', to dive down ...
This started as a drum and synth bass loop to improvise over. I did, and it became something quite interesting. I added an arpeggio treated synth part, a 1970s styled Hammond organ and it took off for the future and beyond.
