Emilio Odalis was born in the Dominican Republic. He grew up in a family of professional musicians. At an early age he moved to New York City with his father and brothers where they continued their musical careers. In New York, they formed a band called Orchestra Tambora under the direction of his brother Manolin Gonzalez. As he developed his musical talents he joined other popular bands such as Ismael Rivera y sus Cachimbos, Pupi Lagarreta, Fausto Rey among others. In 1980, Emilio Odalis moved with his father Manolo and brothers to Miami, Florida, where together they formed MERENGUE 81. There they recorded for Alhambra Record label. This record included the song Papa Liborio which became a great hit in the Dominican Republic in 1981. In 1987 Emilio Odalis was given the opportunity to become the music director for Algo Nuevo Band in Phoenix, Arizona. He later met singer Aixa Figueroa, from Ponce, Puerto Rico. In Ponce, she attended La Escuela Libre de Musica and studied music under the direction of Professors Julio and Emilio Rivera. She moved to New York and from New York to San JoseƒV, California where she took voice lessons under Mr. Jim Bruno. She then moved to Arizona and became lead singer for Abel Valentino and Salsation In the meantime, Algo Nuevo was already checking Aixa for several months and asked her for an audition which she accepted..
After a while, Emilio left Algo Nuevo band and formed Tropicana Orchestra and asked Aixa if she was interested in joining him and be the lead singer and she accepted.
Emilio and Aixa fell in love and got married and together formed a new orchestra named Los 3Men2
We play at night clubs and that's what we do best. We put up a show. We enjoy to have that relationship with the crowd. We have had many memorable moments where people were demanding for us to play some songs over and over again and asking if we had a CD because they wanted to buy it.
Our musical influences are Johnny Ventura, Sergio Vargas, Frank Reyes, Luis Vargas, Celia Cruz, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Gran Combo.
