Loose Change (USA)
Guitar-Driven Original Rock Since 1988
A slow-building anthem of resilience, It’s A Long Way Up rises from emotional collapse toward clarity, carried by layered guitars and determined resolve.
A sharp-edged melodic rock track that confronts modern conformity, A New Kind of Sameness explores how technology, money, and culture promise individuality while quietly steering us toward uniformity.
A restrained and emotionally direct rock ballad about longing and deferred hope, Someday Never Comes lingers in the tension between promise and reality.
A defining track in the band’s recent catalog, Mayday delivers dark urgency and layered hooks as it charts the collapse of a relationship in distress raw, melodic, and unmistakably Loose Change.
Driven by urgency and restless momentum, Out of Contact, Out of Control captures the dizzying pull of desire when emotion overtakes reason.

Loose Change continues to write, record, and release new music.Loose Change was formed in 1988 by longtime collaborators from New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, built on a shared commitment to strong songwriting and guitar-driven rock.
Over the years, the band has remained independent and creatively focused, developing a catalog defined by melodic hooks, energy, and lyrical depth. Along the way, Loose Change has connected its music to purpose organizing Tunes for the Dunes during the Gulf War and later releasing “Carry On in support of New York City 9/11 first responders.
Rather than chasing trends, the band has taken a long-view approach, continuing to write, record, and release new music while staying true to its original sound. Recent releases including “It’s A Long Way Up (When You’re So Far Down), “Mayday, and “Nobody Me reflect that ongoing evolution.
Today, Loose Change continues to build its audience across streaming platforms while staying grounded in the same core idea that started it all great songs come first.Have you performed in front of an audience?Loose Change draws from the classic rock tradition where songwriting, melody, and feel come first.
Our influences include artists like The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Crowded House and The Who bands and writers who understood how to combine strong hooks with emotional honesty and energy. There’s also an appreciation for the craftsmanship of earlier rock and pop, where structure, dynamics, and storytelling were central to the music.
At the same time, we’re less focused on sounding like any one influence and more interested in carrying that tradition forward writing songs that connect, build, and stay with you.
The goal has always been simple: music that feels real, memorable, and built to last.Loose Change records using a blend of modern digital tools and traditional instruments, with a focus on capturing strong performances and authentic tone.
Our setup centers around Studio One for recording and production, along with a mix of electric and acoustic guitars (Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker), bass, live drums, and vocal tracking. We use a combination of amp modeling and mic’d sources depending on the track, always aiming for a sound that supports the song rather than overpowering it.
The approach is straightforward: use the tools that best serve the music, keep the signal chain clean, and focus on performances that feel real and connected.
For us, the gear is important but the song always comes first.Loose Change is built on a long-term commitment to songwriting rather than trends. While many artists chase a moment, we’ve focused on developing a catalog over decades songs that evolve, build, and hold up over time.
Our sound blends classic rock influences with a modern independent approach, allowing us to stay consistent without being static. There’s an emphasis on structure, melody, and lyrical honesty, with each track designed to connect rather than just fill space.
What sets us apart is that this isn’t a project or a phase it’s an ongoing body of work shaped over years, with the same core identity driving everything forward.
