Acoustic Guitar

After a long career as the lead guitarist for a variety of groups, Larry embarked upon a solo career as a composer and performer on the acoustic guitar six years ago. Settling in Birmingham, Alabama, he released Cobb Lane in 2000, which features original songs, such as Remembering Jenny, as well as arrangements of traditional Celtic tunes, like Galway Shawl. Both of these songs received extraordinary reviews at GarageBand.com. Larry will be releasing his second CD, Music for the High Country, A Soundtrack for Blowing Rock, at the end of August 06. The music is a blend of original compositions, as well as traditional classics, arranged in Larrys unique style, encompassing both his solo acoustic guitar, and his outstanding chamber ensemble known as the Acoustic Earth Orchestra. One of the songs from the new album is featured here, and available for download: Hope you enjoy.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I do play live. Mostly in the Birmingham Alabama area. I'll be playing further out with the release of the new cd.
Your musical influences
Most of my musical influences are dead. People like John Fahey, and Dave Van Ronk. I loved the old blues masters, the Beatles, classical and acoustic guitarists, jazz, Memphis Soul and R&B, and Celtic music.
What equipment do you use?
I play a custom built Kevin Ryan Nightingale, made to my specs. My main electric is a Fender Strat. I have two Pro-Tools Digi 02 recording systems.
Anything else?
My wife is Kathryn, and she manages our business, and we have two dogs. Dipstick, and Murphy. I have a son who's done two tours of Iraq, and is about to do a third, which I'm not happy about. I have very strong views on politics. I'll leave it at that.
