Even as a young boy, Keith Gehle know he wanted to be a professional musician. Today he enjoys a successful career as a concert guitarist, teacher, arranger, and composer. Keith began performing professionally in the late 1980's with a simple philosophy: advance the art of guitar performance through diverse music that everyone will enjoy. His numerous performances have delighted audiences at universities, music festivals, and community concerts throughout the Southeast. Keith was recognized for his outstanding musicianship by the Georgia Council for the Arts by being selected every year since 2000 for their prestigious Touring Roster. His recording credits included Keith Gehle, Guitarist and Wintersong - a collection of his original compositions for solo guitar. In the fall of 2003, Keith will release his third CD entitled Nocturne, Music of the Romantics. As a performer he has mad several television appearances in support of his endeavors and has had performances aired on Georgia Public Radio and Alabama Public Radio. Some of his unique arrangements for solo guitar have been published by Willis Music Company and two of his original pieces are featured in the Mel Bay Publications instructional book, "Getting Into Finger Style Guitar."
A classically trained musician, Keith earned his guitar performance degree from the University of Georgia in 1990 under the guidance of acclaimed guitar teacher John Sutherland, a protégé of Andres Segovia. In addition to his collegiate studies, Keith was selected to participate in the 1991 master class of Grammy nominated guitarist Christopher Parkening at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. There, he was chosen by fellow students as one of six distinguished perfomers to represent the class in a public concert.
Keith's extensive training with master guitarists has helped him become a much sought after teacher in his own right. He currently directs the guitar program for Toccoa Falls College, and teaches privately for Hebron School of Music. He taught for Augusta State Univesity in Augusta, GA from 1990-1996 and chaired the guitar division of the Georgia Music Teachers Association from 1998-2000.
