Well, like I stated earlier, I've been doing this since about 1997, when I first got my own Keyboard. It was just some consumer grade store brand keyboard with presets and whatnot,
but I would mess around on it and come up with song ideas. Actually, I should mention that earlier on I used to go to my uncle's house and play on his Kurtzweil which was connected to his computer via Midi. He had this program called "Band in the Box" which allowed you to play along to pre-made songs... (this was about '95-'96 when I was just getting into middle school).
That was the first spark when it came to me wanting to make my own music. In 6th grade I took a class called "Exploratory Music" which involved learning how to make music on midi keyboards.
It was a short class, and most of the students took it casually, but I really enjoyed it and hoped that there were more classes in this subject. 8th grade one lunch period, I decided to ask my teacher if there were any more midi courses I could take. He said there weren't BUT he had his own midi set up in his classroom, and allowed me & a friend of mine to make beats during lunch every day. We didn't have loops or fancy shortcuts to make music, we just made beats by hand on the keyboard and record it to the computer. then I would record it Live to a tape deck. Later on I learned how to quantize, pan, do effects, and proper mixing. In 2000 after my friends started the Gostbustaz, we would all go up to the University of Michigan (we were still teenagers), and we would use one of their midi/recording labs to record vocals. Since then I have created tons of beats, and done many shows, but I've been taking my time with albums. Hopefully you'll hear an album from me soon!Have you performed in front of an audience?I've been playing live at different venues since 1999. The "band"...well rap group I usually perform with is the Gostbustaz. On stage can be fun, though it used to be somewhat nerve racking. I'm more of a behind the scene kind of guy anyway.
