Keyon B. a.k.a Kalibur first started his career at the age of 12, writing songs, singing and competing in school rap battles. It didn't take long before he started composing his own music. He performed his original music at any venue he could---like local competitions, at school, etc. He learned how to the play the piano at the age of 15, and emplimented those skills to compose his own music. Not long after, Kalibur developed a rare ability to play musical pieces by ear. This was a skill that only the most greatest musicians possessed. Soon he began accompanying a local go-go(A D.C native music art-form)Band called "Undisputed." Kalibur and the Undisputed band traveled all around the D.C, Maryland and Virginia metropolitan area performing at local night clubs, house parties, recreational gatherings, ect. When he turned 16 years old,he had the honor of being a featured artist on the Oxon Hill Vocal Music department's debut album(2001). He was granted the experience of performing the album's debut song---assisted by the 400-plus Mass choir. As he grew, so did his skill and love for music. He developed his own unique sound, both rapping and producing. Kalibur began producing for local artist all over the Maryland D.C metropolitan area. Expanding his talent for public exposure, he began building a recording studio in his home where he harnessed most of his engineering skills. He states "I was never taught how to rap, produce, write or mix music. Everything I do musicaly I learned from just listening. Nothing more. I learned from simply paying attention to how long the song formats were--for instance: How many bars a verse or hook should be. How vocals were leveled within the tracks. How to seperate the hi's from the low's and equalize a track so that the bass dosen't distort the vocals. How to construct a climactic bridge or vamp in an R&B song, ect. I grew up in a low income environment, times were hard--I didn't have the opportunity to go to perfomance art schools or attend music engineering programs. When you grow up poor--you make the best out of what you have. And thats exactly what I'm doing--making something out of nothing." Recently, Kalibur has performed his latest material along side his business associate, and friend--the female MC Herrhawness at public venues such as "The Black Family Reunion" at the nation's capital national monument on September 11, 2004. Also, the "WKYS annual Back to School Jam" Opening up for well known artist such as G-Unit, Lil' Scrappy, Shawnna from DTP, Lil' Mo, Houston, Nappy Roots and Xzibit--just to name a few. Those performances were just the testing grounds to see how the public would respond to his sound, style and overall presence on the local music scene. Kalibur is truely one of D.C and Maryland's most talented and best kept secret star on the rise to great achievements in the music industry.
