Joshua Bley
i write from a place where some of us go alone.
when it's time for me to "check in" with myself.. i find me being pulled either to the piano or the guitar, to find out what im really feeling.. blanketing and hiding.
music is both a skill and a gift, but all of us have the power to "check in".. unload and heal from it all. there's many different mediums out there.. and this happens to be one of mine. enjoy.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
there's not much.. i've been around in my 23 years though. i've recently played in san francisco a few times... open mikes in boulder, colorado in my favorite little coffee shop, Penny Lane. ask me in a year and hopefully i'll have more ;)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
currently, im writing.. processing and battery
charging for the next step ahead. in that step, i
see more playing live.. there's nothing like
looking out there while you're singing to trangers and seeing your eyes reflected in theirs. in those moments, we never were strangers. and maybe thats why we ended up showing up on the same night. :playing
live is an exchange. a circle. a gift. and working on what i can bring to the table.
Your musical influences
growing up, i learned my love for music through my mother and oldest brother. back then, it was waking up every weekend to the sound of my mom cleaning the house to james taylor, neil young, janis ian.. and they have definitely left their imprint. late at night, through the walls, i'd hear my brother downstairs with older pink floyd (uma guma)led zeppellin and the beatles: white album. quite alot for a 7 year old.. but my first lesson that music really takes you there. anywhere. nowadays, i still cant kick my love for tori amos.. but im trying not to steal from her. i now know that i have my own voice.. and in that.. i've tried to keep the tori records at bay. she is a deffinate
channel for goddess energy.. and through her music, i've found a teacher, healer, sister and friend. (a suggestion : give "Under the Pink" a try)
What equipment do you use?
i need more toys...
Anything else?
thank you for taking this time with me. i can only hope my language of music tap's something inside of you.. and maybe some day.. somewhere, we'll bump into eachother soon. peace.
