I've pretty much abandoned this site in favor of mySpace. Please check me out there. mySpace.com/jonrowan. Welcome to my soundclick site. Here you'll find some songs that aren't availalbe anywhere else. For those of you who are new to my music, I will give you a little description. Music should look at your different sides. Nice/Mean, Selfish/Humanitarian, Sympathetic/Cold. My songs range from thought provoking ballads about love and loss, to just damn fun. I write my own songs, and also love colaboration. I grew up in New York State and spent 10 years of my life in the midwest, more specifically in St. Louis, MO. Hopefully you'll find some new tunes that become built in to your own backdrop.
Band/artist history
I started off as a 12 year old who picked up a guitar. From then on, it was always there. I played with a couple of groups along the road. Let's not forget the power-house that was my high-school band: Dead September. We were so bad ass. Then in college, I played in the comic duo/trio Granny Smith. That was a lot of fun. A lot of beer, too. Then in New York, I put together Willis. We have our last album still available for free at www.iheartwillis.com. It was a great bunch of guys. Now I do this. The solo thing. It makes for a different experience all together.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes I do. You can find me in New York City area. Performing is what I do best. If you'd like me to play in your city, just drop me a line.
Your musical influences
Influences are everchanging. Sometimes I get excited about a Coltrane solo, and sometimes I get excited by AC/DC. Having as many influences as possible makes you a better artist. And my music sounds like what it sounds like.
What equipment do you use?
A lot of vintage fender gear. '79 strat. '63 Pro-reverb.
Anything else?
New album produced by Christopher Young due later in the year. These are some sneaks that will dissappear when the album is released. Thanks for visiting. Come to a show in NYC. You can buy fun crap at www.cafeshops.com/jonrowan. I can't link to it here, so cut and paste the link. -Jon
