Joaquín Taboada comenzó a componer su propia música a finales de los 80. Después de un largo paréntesis de tiempo dedicado al estudio, a su trabajo como profesor y a la composición, decide en 2001 recopilar y regrabar una serie de temas compuestos a partir de 1990. Varias canciones de este trabajo alcanzan el número 1 mundial en las listas de New Age.
En 2005 comienza otra etapa marcada por la publicación del Cd “INTROSPECTIVE” por el prestigioso sello discográfico Non Profit Music. Todos los beneficios de la venta de este Cd van destinados a la ONG Médicos Sin Fronteras en España.
En 2006 presenta en Monforte de Lemos (Lugo) el concierto Festivalario, un espectáculo que conjugó a la perfección la música y la luz en interacción con el entorno del Parque dos Condes ante alrededor de 2.500 espectadores.
En 2007 realizó una gira de conciertos por Navarra presentando “Puntos cardinales”, un proyecto que combina danza y música.
En abril de 2010 presentó la ópera para niños “Piratas” en el Auditorio de la Casa de Cultura de Peralta y en Diciembre se estrenó su obra “Ave Verum” para coro y orquesta de cuerda dirigida por Caroline Collier.
Varias de sus obras han sido escogidas para formar parte del repertorio de las asignaturas Música de cámara y Taller de música contemporánea del Conservatorio Superior Pablo Sarasate de Pamplona.
Peregrinaje es un trabajo realizado durante los años 2007 a 2010. Todos los beneficios obtenidos de su comercialización van a ser destinados, tal y como se hiciera con su anterior trabajo “Introspective”, a un objetivo benéfico, en este caso todo lo recaudado de donará a Cruz Roja Navarra.
