Raised on hardcore/true-school ('93-'99) East Coast hip-hop, J-Kwest slings lyrical darts unlike any other. This rap veteran / hip-hop connoisseur hails from Burlington, Vermont, and his ever-changing style is truly a testament to uniqueness and creativity. Dissatisfied with the superficial and uninspired present state of hip-hop music, J spans a wide variety of topics that range from current events to politics, from personal issues to just sick wordplay -- not to mention a heavy dose of battle raps for good measure -- to enlighten through his talents while still keeping it original, interesting, and of course -- real. Production comes courtesy of Dr. Quandary, DJ MSP, Face One, and in-house producer BlazeStar, of BlazeStar Inc.
I've been writing rhymes for fun since I was about 12 or so; started taking writing and spittin altogether more seriously at around 14 or 15.
I haven't really had too many booked 'shows' but I've had some chances to get out and do my thing in the Burlington underground scene. Truth be told, I'm more of a lay-low cat who would rather write than perform. You mighta seen me around town though... When I'm wasted I usually get up and rap somewhere, be it downtown or bogartin the mic at your favorite emcees' shows, lol.
Wu-Tang Clan & affiliates (Killarmy, Sunz of Man, Royal Fam, etc.); The Society of Invisibles, Non-Phixion, Jedi Mind Tricks, Reef da Lost Cauze, Apathy, Lloyd Banks, Grafh, Cassidy, Redman, Canibus, Eminem, Mobb Deep, Nas, House of Pain, others.
Whatever I have that works... and sometimes stuff that doesn't.
