Flight of the Hawkman (2006) Flight of the Hawkman (2006)

This song was inspired by a speech I heard given by Dennis Banks of the American Indian Movement back in 1996. One of the lines just stuck in my head. Being an avid Peltier supporter since forever, this is my Leonard Peltier tribute song. Original

Rock General

My name is J.D. Nash. I began singing, as so many do, in church. My musical influences ranged from the classic country of Haggard, Jones and Cline to the pyschodelic bands of the 60's, but my first love is Southern Rock in all it's forms. I am a member of ASCAP and all my music is copyrighted. I've been writing original songs since I was about 15 years old, and I'm currently working with some of the best musicians in the Midwest on my sophomore project: "So There I Was..." which is scheduled to be a 15 song CD available in the fall of 2006.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I do play live whenever I can. I am fortunate enough to have a great working relationship with a local Kansas band called Backlash. I've had the honor to share the stage with some of the most talented acts in Indian Country...Wayquay, Clan/destine, Annie Humphrey, Star Nayea and Burning Sky to name a few.
Your musical influences
My musical influences range from the Southern Rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, The Allman Brothers and others to modern country, blues, traditional Native American and contemporary Native music.
What equipment do you use?
Just hand me a microphone with whatever amplification equipment is handy and turn me loose!
