X's For Eyes (Requiem for a Son) X's For Eyes (Requiem for a Son)
Not a very happy song, but I wasn't happy when I wrote and recorded it. It was recorded in Jake's room. I did all instruments and vocals. The drums were done by tapping the pads on an SR16.
Wake The Dead Wake The Dead
A rocker written by myself and late son using some of the guitar work he had left on cassette, along with my playing.
Jazzbo is just me, a hack with some guitars, amps, keyboard, electronic drum machine and some recording equipment. (Strictly low budget.) I do the vocals, play all of the instruments, then mix it down and burn to CD.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yeah, in front of the dog, but she isn't easily impressed! Seriously though, I haven't played live in a long time.
Your musical influences
I cut my teeth on 50's country & early Elvis when I was just 5 or 6, but went a different direction when I saw the Beatles on Sullivan in 64. My "drivin' around" CDs are pretty diverse, from Webb Pierce to Green Day to Mozart to Carl Smith to King's X to Backyard Babies. I love music. What equipment do you use?
Depends on the song, but I'm partial to Gretsches and Marshalls.Anything else?
Yeah. I wish the recording industry would quit compressing the hell out of songs. They squash the sh*t out of recordings just to make the CD sound louder. It wears my ears out quickly and it ruins any dynamics that might have been in the song. I hope that practice dies soon cuz it's killin' me!!!!Contact
