8-piece Indie-Ska Band out of Rochester, NY
Band/artist history
Jaxom is an 8-piece rock band out of Rochester, NY. Blending a melodic punk/emo sound with a four-piece horn section, this group can not be defined as typical ska. Fusing crunchy yet harmonic guitar licks as well as quick, aggressive basslines with deadly four-part horn harmonies and meaningful, coming-of-age lyrics, this octet delivers a totally original and unique interpretation of society and relationships. The impressively mature tunes are accompanied by a breath-taking live performance consisting of: synchronized jumps, horn twirling/throwing, complete 360 degree guitar swings, and of course, kick-lines by the horn section in Rock-ette fashion. Citing such bands as: The Starting Line, Rufio, Yellowcard and Rx Bandits as their main influences, it is easy to see how such an innovative sound was put together. The average age of the members rests at 17, that pivotal point in a person's life when they are beginning their transition into the "real world", and are unaware of the paths that may lie ahead of them. "Relationships, society, and growing-up are all parts of who we are, and thats what we write about." Originally, it was all just an idea. A new, special sound that wasn't everything you heard on the radio and at local shows. After drummer, guitarist and lead singer replacements [as well as a few horn-section changes], Jaxom is now finally at the point where they can mold and develop ideas into brilliantly bold and uplifting anthems for a misled youth. "We aren't writing for the kids of today, we are writing because we are the kids of today. Someone needs to make our voice be heard, so we are simply trying to ensure that it is." With poignant, bittersweet lyrics wrapping up rich, full tunes, Jaxom has proven that what you see isn't always what you get. And in this case, you get more, a whole lot more.
