Dance-Pop

With the power of Celine Dion, a pinch of Judy Garland, a sprinkle of Patsy Cline and even a splash of Frank Sinatra, Jamie has created a versatile and unique vocal style all her own.

Band/artist history

Jamie Brayden was literally born to sing. Her parents, nightclub and radio performers in the New York area, recognized her unique talents early and after much prodding on her part, they incorporated her into their act when she was only three years old. Not many small children can sing melody, let alone four-part harmony, but that came natural to Jamie.

By the time she was ten, Jamie had taught herself to play the guitar and was writing songs with complex melodies and soulful lyrics that she performed in a variety of venues. As a teenager, she lent her talents to musical theatre, appearing in community productions of The Mikado, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, and Man of La Mancha. At the same time, she began singing and fronting for pop, dance, and rock bands that performed in many top clubs in the New York area.

From New York Jamie went to Nashville to record and then on to Los Angeles where she performed her one-woman show, “Kaleidoscope”. While in L.A., she received the Bronze Halo Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Entertainment Industry presented by the Southern California Motion Picture Council.

Not playing live at the moment. Concentrating on writing and recording songs for a new CD.

Your musical influences

That's really hard to answer. I grew up singing so many different types of music. I think my greatest influence was Janis Joplin. What made her so incredible was the passion, soul and feeling she put into every song she sang. Although my voice sounds nothing like hers I hope I put the same passion, soul and feeling into the songs I sing.

Anything else?

I'm co-writing a new Jazz/Adult Contemporary CD right now. Hopefully it will be completed and out by Fall 2007.
