I'm a producer who makes beats with some assistance with my brother. I got some early music training in elementary school being forced to join the school choir. As much as I hated it, I fell in love with music there. All thanks to the late Bro. Joseph "Joey" Winters, I learned a ton about music and piano, and he never let me touch a key. Hurricane Katrina hit and I went Mississippi and got involved with theatre but started taking lessons in piano theory. It really stuck. I came back to the city within a year and went to an arts school and ran through theatre and music, quit both there, and got down with media arts and studies. Keeping up with skills in piano and understanding music, I started making beats. Hopefully there'll be more to add in the future. FWM.
Your musical influences
I listen to damn near anything. I'm a sucker for catchy stuff. Occasionally there's one song I obsess over for weeks. I try and make music that does the same. I've got some stuff that sounds like Kanye's 808 album, but I wanna some day get on some level of his other albums. I was really digging 3000's peculiarity and Timbalands use of rhythm. I hear other genres and I study elements and try and put that into my music. I get inspired by a lot of artists. I also study of lot of cinema music and have been told my beats feel more like they should be in a movie rather than rapped on.
What equipment do you use?
I'm currently experimenting with other programs, but currently, everything you hear is made with Reason from Propellerhead. I work strictly off of an M-Audio Axiom keyboard. I've recently began sampling on ReCycle, a program intended to work specifically with Reason. I'm mooching off of my brother's equipment and shit. He's got mics and mixers, I just plug in the BBDs and go at it.
