I-Ray is a pinoy band that plays a mix of rock and reggae. Founders Mac Viviezca and Danniel Ancheta derived the name from the Rastafarian term "irie", meaning no worries. The two of them are high school buddies and have been jamming together for years. They went by the name "Jamenicker" for a while, covering alternative material, until they decided to pursue other things. It was four years before they reunited in the summer of 2007 to once more form a band. They jammed with a few different drummers and bassists before Elmar and Jerone cemented the lineup. Recently, good friend and co-manager Jamil Antonino has been taking rhythm guitar duties. While the first two members are avid followers of Bob Marley, Black Uhuru, and other reggae musicians, the others are devoted to rock. With influences ranging from classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC to 90's bands like 311, Pepper, and Sublime, I-Ray's sound has got reggae groove with a hard rock approach.
