Progressive Rock

Welcome all. Hemlok is a band whose music is best described as a aural adventure; atmospheric with dark detours and quiet interludes. Sounds cast forth lace songs with a musical imagery both dark and diverse, both light and shade.
Band/artist history
Formed about two years ago by George (bass/guitar/vocals) and John (Guitar/devices/bow) Hemlok's lineup is rounded out by Zach (drums/percussion) and Rebekah (Vocals. Also bearing mention in a studio (and occasionally live) capacity is Dave (Piano/Organ/analogue synth). They are a tight live unit that has prided itself on creating atmospheric music that encompasses moments both haunting and immediate. Creating music in both studio and stage, Hemlok continues to chart it's progress at its website www.hemlok.com
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We have played throughout Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts and are seeking to further expand our performance base. Playing live allows us the chance to make our songs more of an experience; we've utilized a light/laser show and exotic dancers to assist in creating a visual experience to rival the audio journey we offer. Playing live is vital to this band; the songs mature and naturally become more powerful with audience connection. Our fondest live moments would probably include winning a Battle of the Bands monetary prize that enabled us to master and release our self-produced CD, and a recent performance with light show and dancers to a packed fetish club. A new meaning to the phrase "captive" audience, if you like.
Your musical influences
Influences include Alice In Chains, Tool, King Crimson, VAST, Peter Hammill/Van Der Graaf Generator, Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, A Perfect Circle, Soundgarden, Sigur Ros and others.
What equipment do you use?
We have a strange fascination with all things analog, the guitar effects include Electro-Harmonix devices and assorted fuzzboxes. Keyboards include distorted Hammond organs and mellotrons completmenting vintage Moogs and piano. Additionally, swaths of bowed guitar create doomy preludes or cutting leads, depending on the song.
