Volcano man Volcano man

Everyone looks at at a volcano and says something along the lines of 'How pretty' Volcanos are not to be taken lightly. Another fine performance by dr Hoos live at the Hatchery Lawn

This collaboration with Serge Bernier (Norman 6 string) links his flowing Leonard Cohen style with my Larry Adler Chromatic. A stroll through the blues of our cultures.

Blues General

Harpman64 is an off shoot of Dr Hoos Blues band. I welcome the opportunity to push the limits of blues and drag it screaming into the 21st century. Blues is a feeling. Not some little ,cute 12 bar piece of treacle. You need to be in the bottom of the barrel before you can feel the weight of life.
Band/artist history
I started out playing local Taranaki gigs with a band called "BLUE TURTLE". Named after the big brother and the holding co tune. I discovered the synth and went into trippy stuff with 'Captain Serge and the swinging testicles". Spent many years jamming with mates and then got together with Matt, Steve and John to form Cletus. The girls thought it sounded dirty so we changed it to DR HOOS.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I might not sound alive but I enjoy getting on stage and struttin my stuff. I would say that my favourite gig would be playing on the Hatchery Lawn in New Plymouth.
Your musical influences
I learnt how to play harp listening to John Mayall, the Stones, Sonny Boy Williamson and Sonny Terry. I guess there is a little of them in all my stuff.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Shaker Madcat mic nowdays but most of my stuff has been done on a shure 57. I feel best using Marine band harps. Although I do use the occaisional Chromatic and oddity here and there.
Anything else?
Enjoy
