Cilette Swann's exquisitely powerful vocals lead, while partner Roman Morykit, balances the band's ethereal edge with inspired bass counterpoint keeping their sound grounded. Together, the duo writes all of their music and lyrics with Morykit also handling the arrangements and production. The two met in Scotland and have traveled the world together, bringing to their music the influences of many cultures. Gypsy Soul's inspiration also stems from their diverse roots. Roman is British, and of Italian and Ukrainian decent, while Canadian-born Cilette's heritage is Irish and South African. The resulting sound is a Celtic-infused, Americana-folk-rock.
Their debut CD, Test of Time, received high critical acclaim nationally and abroad. The single, "Silent Tears" charted at #36 on the GAVIN AC charts. Gypsy Soul continues their reputation for evocative melodies and imaginative songwriting with their second release, Sanctuary. This enhanced CD features an MTV quality video, interviews, live performance footage and photo gallery. This follow-up was released nationally to yet more critical acclaim and has earned them an even broader fan base, domestically and abroad. The CD received the coveted Performing Songwriter magazine's "Top 12 D.I.Y. Recordings" of the year; the group's second win in a row. Not long after Sanctuary's release and prompted by a Christmas Eve interview for WestWood One Radio Networks, the duo decided to record and release a Holiday CD entitled Sacred. The CD was immediately picked by many publications and radio stations as a "must have" Holiday record and sold out at numerous stores.
