Greg Vickers
I am a freelance sax player living in Georgia. I moved here from Tucson AZ in October of 2005.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started playing sax about seven years ago, and as my playing progressed I moved through several styles. I started with blues and rock, and moved to smooth jazz, then jazz. Now I like aspects of all of them, and I try to play them all with equal enthusiasm.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live in the middle Georgia area.
Your musical influences
It's tough to talk influences when I learned to play the way I did. Most of my learning was done on my own, so I developed a sound before I did a lot of heavy listening. But if pressed I'd have to say my influences are Adderly, Marsalis, Sanborn, Maceo Parker, and Clarence Clemons for the respective genres they represent.
