hello we are gladhouse from portland, oregon. we have more than one hundred finished songs (indie, folk, pop, rock) and several live shows scheduled.
Band/artist history
For all practical purposes, gladhouse officially formed in October of 2002 with the addition of Josh Roberts. Matt Miller (voice, guitar, piano) and Ando Stern (bass, guitar) were living and rehearsing in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Roberts auditioned after, as legend has it, responding to a newspaper ad. The band was in the middle of writing songs for a future recording and Josh added the missing element. It didn't take them long to start playing out locally. The first shows were at Portland clubs Dublin Pub, Green Room, Lola's Room, and Mississippi Pizza. In January of 2003, they added Portland’s premiere drummer, M. Kelly O'Hearn. Soon after they recorded what would become their self-titled debut, later known as "gladhouse". They tracked three songs and their dear friend Patrick Kearns agreed to engineer the project at Jackpot! Recording Studio. The band continued to write on and started to record a series of demos now know as the "Basement Tapes #2". This is when their relationships with Mr. O'Hearn came to a sudden and abrupt halt. Faced with the uncertainty of not having a permenent drummer gladhouse retreated back to the basement to find solace in their craft. gladhouse spent the time wisely, demoing an astonishing 100+ songs. The irreplacible Daniel Barzola signed on with gladhouse in January 2004. The band has begun playing out again with plans to release a full length album in the near future.
