Sure you hear the name Giant Panda and I know what you think of: Big, cute, black and white, furry, bear-like creatures from China. Well that's exactly how G

The Pandas go for broke on this old school throwback beat. Chikaramanga is dangerous...and Turbo!
Band/artist history
Some think of Giant Pandas and they think, "i love those adorable endangered marsoupials from China!", or perhaps "i wish i could have one of those cute bears as a house pet!". However, those in the "know" are aware that Giant Panda is quite possibly the best thing to happen to music since audio recording.
To us at Ukenjam, Giant Panda is Chikaramanga, Maanumental, Newman, Sir Kado, and Superbrush 427. The (sometimes) tri-lingual rappin, fresh-lyric writin, dope-beat makin, live-show rippin, and always party-rockin squad that is stuck in hip-hop's glory days but still light years ahead of the typical hip-hop fair.
You could say that the "Panda" was born on the playground of Madrona Elementary School in Seattle, WA. It was there that Maanumental and Newman met and started buggin out on how Special Ed would eat alligator soufflet (yuck!). While Maanumental and his brother Sir Kado would bounce between Seattle and Los Angeles, it wasn't till Newman spent some time in So. Cal that the Panda would start to take form.
Thanks to a house in Claremont CA., known for its abundance of beer and amatuer DJ's, Newman would witness the fitness of Chikaramanga wreckin doubles of "Come Clean" and spittin Japanese fire into a busted mic during cyphers. A friendship was born. After many hours of Newman bringing wack dollar records over to Chikaramanga and Superbrush 427's dorm room to make beats, the three and some other "heads" formed a group that would eventually evolve into Giant Panda.
After various projects, a few line-up changes, and a complete re-location to the Byzantine Latino Quarter section of Los Angeles, the five decided on turning a long-running joke into the group name they needed to run things: Giant Panda! "What else could you call a group that has two black guys, a white guy, and a japanese guy? Seriously." says Ukenjam Presidesnt Kenny Lavish. When asked about Pandas being from China and the Latino DJ (part time rapper), Mr. Lavish says, "You don't get it, do you. Just listen to the music, i mean listen."
