Genesis Elijah, a.k.a. Nathaniel Winston Joseph Bygrave, was born in Brixton in 1981 to a Jamaican Preacher father and his Dominican mother, both of whom were teachers. Being the eldest of 6 children he learnt responsibility from an early age. He was always an outspoken individual, this attribute got him into much trouble at school and he quickly lost interest in academics, diverting his attention to basketball and music.
Genesis Elijah has been rapping and writing rhymes since the age of 11 and has been heavily involved in the U.K. Hip-Hop scene since 15 years of age. He has performed alongside the likes of Blak Twang, Big Ted & Shortee Blitz, Jehst, Phi-Life Cypher, Semtex, Rodney P, Task Force, Tommy Evans and many others.
Genesis has gained the respect of his peers, which is heavily reflected in his previous works, which includes collaborations with some of the best rappers in the U.K. game and production from the best producers in the country. He has collaborated with the likes of Terra Firma (Klashnekoff, Kyza & Skriblah), Wordsmith, Skinnyman, Tommy Evans, AC & Terra, DVS and many others.
Genesis views his music as a tool to address subjects that are rarely given light in the media such as the corruption of the government's schools, prison and justice system's as well as high lighting problems that effect us all like crime & poverty.
Genesis is far from an average emcee, his track record proves this, and prefers to approach the music with honesty and integrity as opposed to the macho images that dominates the scene. He is a kind and gentle person who poses a talent, which shines through the already over populated scene. He has already made a mark within the industry yet he still has so much more to offer!
In early 2004, Genesis Elijah joined Broken Souls Productions to promote his message to a wider audience. His first release on Broken Souls is Deh Pon Road released on 2nd July 2005 in conjunction with Brave Music.Have you performed in front of an audience?Genesis has performed alongside the likes of Blak Twang, Big Ted & Shortee Blitz, Jehst, Phi-Life Cypher, Semtex, Rodney P, Task Force, Tommy Evans and many others.
