Our Way of Life Our Way of Life

White Collar Hijack White Collar Hijack

The profit first, think later ideology is a short-sighted way of life - moreover, its criminal. "HANDS UP IN THE AIR, YOU'RE ALL UNDER ARREST!"

Stand Tall (Old Growth Anthem) Stand Tall (Old Growth Anthem)

Forestry in Tasmania is totally corrupt! It's a natural treasure, and an international responsibilty to protect these stretches of old growth forests! Gunns Ltd, get ya greasy hands off our trees!!

Positive Vibes

Gaiatribe is an independent media/ music-journalism collective. We believe music is an extremely powerful tool for articulating positive and pro-active ideas for a world where uniformity/conformity and commodification are fast becoming the rule. So, before we get to '1984', we write tunes to address issues that, damn right! need addressing!!! Political, poetic, passionate, Gaiatribe is off da rails with a combination of hip-hop, funky-roots and ambient-chilled out sound!
Band/artist history
Benna and Jordan attended a scary private Catholic high school together where they developed a taste for death metal. Benna has spent the years since then engaged in full on social and environmental activism, whilst also doing abit of study and playing music. Jordan has been using a PhD in History as a guise for making rockin music, whilst textually deconstructing the colonistic, anglocentric paradigm of Australian and South African history. The two teamed up to make some tunes under the name "orbis 3" in 2002/2003. One of their songs, "Stand Tall" (about the horrid desecration and woodchipping of ancienrt forests in Tasmania) made it into the grand final of the 2004 International Yamaha Song Contest.
