Ever since they were friends, Mike (Guitar 1) and Gill (Guitar 2) always wanted to form a band together. With the same influences and a long history of guitar duet, they had already a strong musicianship. Together, they give Florences brutal yet catchy melodies.
On the beginning of summer 2003, they heard about Phil for his skills and creativity on drums. After a try out on an October evening, there were no doubts in their mind: they had to bring Phil on board. For needs of a bassist, Phil suggested Hermann who happened to be his long time best friend and band mate for five years in a few other projects. They were just what Florence was looking for...solid and original rhythmic. By the end of November, Mike introduced his new friend Jay. The band gave him an audition and they were more than satisfied. Just a few jams after Jays arrival, Florence had their first song: Wings of Tragedy.
Finally, in early December, Florence was completed. During that month, the band went through intensive rehearsal, and was finally ready for live shows. In April, after several shows, they began recording 2 songs, "Wings of Tragedy" & Troubled Skies, to put on the internet and get more gigs. It actually worked! After more then 35 shows in less then a year all around the province of Quebec, with bands such as Underoath, Senses Fail, The Bled, Roses Are Red, etc. they are now recording their first EP.Have you performed in front of an audience?We usually play once or twice a week in our province, and hope to play in the USA in 2005. We played with bands like Senses Fail, Underoath, The Bled, Since by Man, Roses Are Red, etc.
