With competition rising consistently within any selected genre in the music industry, labels and managers now judge new artists using higher standards. Individuality, confidence, power are just some of the must-have qualities looked for in upcoming talent. Mario Corcho and Sr. Escobar of Essounds Entertainment have that and more to offer the world with their music. Coming
from almost nothing, this pair of brothers have had their musical flow bless several mixtapes and they’re now preparing to release their very own.Alexander and Esly Escobar were born and raised on the calles of Zona 6 in Guatemala City. As young adolescents, they came to the United States in 1994. Currently residing in Long Island, N.Y., 23-year-old Esly (Sr. Escobar) and 25-year-old Alexander (M. Corcho) have circulated around a wide
variety of positions in music before they established themselves as artists. Many doubted that these brothers would be able to overcome barriers and obstacles and follow a dream that, for many, never comes close to reality. With no doubts that they would be found somewhere floating within music, the pair began investing in this empire-to-be, Essounds Entertainment.
M. Corcho’s interest in music began when his 10-year-old ears first heard the lyrical flow of LL Cool J. As Corcho was growing up, hip hop was growing with him, with names as Biggie, Tupac, Jay-Z, Wu-Tang, Nas, Lost Boyz, Common Sense and Eric Sermon leaving positive imprints in his life. As soon
as the world entered the new millenium, he decided he wanted to not just hear music, but be it. Sr. Escobar dates the birth of his hip hop interest back to the sounds of Snoop Dogg’s “Jin and Juice.” Like Corcho, he grew up listening to the Tupacs and the Jay-Zs of his time, soon enough finding himself anticipating such a rapper to enter the Latin scene. No such
thing happened. During their late teens/early 20s, they partnered up to conquer this phenomenon. As a team, they looked out for Latin hip hop talent that they can mold and present to the public. After failing to find the types they were looking for, the Escobar brothers made what they call the best decision of their careers. They assumed the role of the artists.
Using their love for hip hop and their passion for success as the links bonding the two together, M. Corcho and Sr. Escobar began writing and producing their own songs. Distrito 37 produces, as well, for the artists. With beliefs that Latin hip hop will segue into hip hop mainstream, Essounds focused on working in that genre. The team is characterized by its unique artists, producers, lyrical content, beats and its ambition to make a difference in music. In addition to common topics, such as money, drugs, sex and violence, Corcho and Escobar make sure to offer music that will also relay life-worthy messages to their audience. They’re recognized by their clear, slow style of rapping, making it easier for listeners to understand lyrics. The mellow tone of Corcho’s voice and the N.Y.-stylo of Sr. Escobar’s flow landed these cats on all of the El Movimiento Latin Hip Hop and Reggaeton mixtape series (Volume 1-5) and DJ Big Premiere’s Top Billing 70 as the only Latin hip hop act featured on the mixtape. Essounds, running independently, strives for credibility and strength to build up to a Roc-like dynasty. Giving major credit to Mr. Miggs and Les Boogie from El Movimiento Ent. for bringing their name out there, Mario Corcho and Sr. Escobar are confident they will soon be known worldwide.
Be on the lookout for their album expected to drop late summer 2006.
