We are compared to the likes of KMFDM, combichrist, and cubanate (she sells sea shells...lol) Agressive distored vocals with fast techno breaks and odd guitar and synth samples. All songs are written and produced by Aaron Switzer. Live sets are: Aaron Switzer (Screamer) and Bailey Davis and/or Cass Whitteman (Machines)
Band/artist history
The 8 bit project began in 1996 as the first solo project by Aaron Switzer. Beginning with experimental samples and digital hardcore breaks. The first full length album "Lo-fi entertainment" (1998) was a 21 track collection of the best tracks Switzer had pieced together with ghetto equipment since he had started producing and featured the song "Gravol" which earned 8 bit a name north of Toronto. The subsequent release in 1999 "Power without the price" took on a slightly heavier tone and started incorperating more breakbeats into the 8 bit sound. Later that year a special mini disc release "Forever" was circulated featuring 4 industrial remixes of some of the heaviest tracks from P.W.T.P. In 2001 8 bit's "Blackout" album started incorperating more synth lines the like of ebm but sped up to the likes of digital hardcore and with cynical and borderline humourous tracks like "Shop at Walmart" 8 bit's sound was at a zenith. Switzer then took a break from the 8 bit project to persue Waveform Canvas, another musical endevour as well as write two books, have a few visual art shows, become diagnosed with chronic shizophrenia, move to a different province and get married. After the relative success of W.C.'s "The Brink" and last year's "594km" Switzer has broken 8 bit's five years of silence with "IDDQD" by far the most aggressive and intense incarnation of 8 bit thus far.
