October 1993 Original band formed by Andrew Brodie, Ross White, Nick Penny and Russell Smith. 28th May 1994 First demo recorded at Argyle Studios, Glasgow, 12-3 pm. Record number of takes in a three hour period. (listen) 4th June First Gig, supporting The Dawntreaders at the Clyde Bar, Helensburgh. Russell is 'sick'. (preview) 5th June Nick leaves for Wales. Guitarist required. 14th June Ross leaves for Tain. Bassist required. 30th June Andrew, Ross and Russell play at a party in Kilcreggan. Police intervene, and hired gear breaks mysteriously. 5th August First Rehearsal with Johnny Mitchell and Steven 'Lenny' Leonard. 26th August Support The Dawntreaders at the Clyde Bar. 5th November Support Die Happy at the Clyde Bar. (preview) 3rd December Support The Dawntreaders at the Clyde Bar. A pattern begins to emerge. (preview) 6th January 1995 First headline gig at the Clyde, supported by Ted and the Cheesy Lion. The event is well attended. (preview) / (review) 12th February Ec McLean becomes manager. Second demo recorded at the Brill Building, Glasgow, 11am-10pm. (listen) 17th March QMU Battle of the Bands. The Breed come third. 24th March Support Martin Metcalf at the Clyde. (preview) 22nd April Support dUM dUM (formerly known as Die Happy) at the Clyde. 20th May Second headline gig at the Clyde. (preview) 25th May Play at Bar 5 in the Strathclyde University Union. 9th June Support the Moondials at the Clyde. 17th June Play QMU 'T in the dark'. Johnny's birthday. Get banned from ever playing there again. 5th July Support Dream Disciples at Stone's Bar in Edinburgh. 20th July Compete in the Holsten Pils Bandsearch at the Brewhouse in Glasgow. 21st August Support The Thanes at Stone's, Edinburgh. 2nd September Support Men Lie at the Clyde. (preview) 11th September Panasonic Soundblast competition at the Glasgow University Union. Once again, the Breed come 3rd. 28th October Support Stranger's Cage at Clyde Bar. 7th November Lenny quits to pursue other interests. 17th November Andrew, Russell and Ross play 'Clyde Unplugged'. 18th November 3rd demo recorded at Stuffhouse, Glasgow, 12-9 pm. (listen) 16th December Support The Supernaturals at the Clyde, playing as a 'power trio'. 22nd December Support Mudshark at the Clyde Bar. Ho hum. 6th January 1996 Support Motor Life Co. at the Clyde. 4th February Ec McLean joins as guitarist. 6th April Support the Biblical Proportions at the Clyde Bar. 27th April Support Men Lie at Clyde Bar. September End of The Breed. Rehearsals are too much like hard work, and the creative process finally falls apart.
