We are Ecliptic Summer, a Metal band from Torquay in Devon, England. We play all our own material, even if we do borrow a riff and modify it every so often! We are four members strong:
Mike Gartley: Vocals
Sam Preece: Guitar
Mike Jarvis: Bass
Jon Tandy: Drums
With an EP in the works we will be visting somewhere near you in the future...
Ecliptic Summer began in the Autumn of 2003 as TenwaysfromZero, when Mike Jarvis left yet another unsucessful Punk band and met up with Dean McMahon. Sam Preece soon joined TWFZ, along with a Keyboardist, Craig Wright and a Bassist called Karl. Karl was the first member to go, and Dean became TWFZ's Bassist.
Louise Quinton, Dean's girlfriend, became Vocalist in late Spring, 2004. Then Lucy McFarlane, TWFZ's first drummer, joined and left in the space of a month. Jon Tandy soon joined and became TWFZ's first proper drummer. In Summer, 2004.
TWFZ died and Ecliptic Summer was born with Louise, Sam, Mike, Dean, Jon and Craig as the line-up. Dean and Louise split up Mid-Summer, yet, she stayed with the band until Autumn, then she left. Thus began ES's great Vocalist hunt. Dean met a guy called Marcus, and he tried out with ES, but to no prevail.
In the Winter, Mike Gartley began helping out as a tech, and then one day, when Jarvis was working, he filled in on Guitar, everyone was amazed, and so Gartley became ES's 3rd Guitarist. It wasn't long before Gartley discovered that he was able to Roar and even sing. The Vocalist hunt came to an end, and ES even got a second vocalist, Leanne King who provided a singing voice to match with Gartley's roars.
Not long after the beginning of 2005, Craig left ES, there was no need for him in the new material. This is where ES truely kicked off. Now as a breed of Metal unknown, material began to flood in and practises got more and more common.
Most recently, Dean McMahon and Leanne King left the band, Jarvis became Bassist and ES is complete, material is being churned out at a rate of knots. Truely, the history of Ecliptic Summer has only just begun.
We are yet to play live, we are building up to that at the moment.
Vocalist: Lamb of God, Guitarist: Arch Enemy, Bassist: Soilwork, Drummer: Metallica
These are the major infulences but the list is exstensive.
There is not much point in listing it due to the fact it changes so much. Upgrades and the such.
