One year after beginning a long and tiring journey, Megan (15) and Jenn (16) decided that former member Taylor wasn't fit for a singing group, so they kicked her out. Auditions were held, and Katie (15) was automatically welcomed to PSU. Now, the girls have dedicedly grown out of the name "Popstars United" and have changed it to DeVotion. With the change of name, there was also a slight change of their musical style and clothing style. The music style is a bit more mature along with deeper lyrics. "It felt way too popish and young," says Jenn. "We feel that this is more us" Megan adds. Their clothing is also more mature. Performance clothes always have a specific color scheme to them and are almost always bought for performances only. Although it may seem like music is their only passion, it isn't. They attend school and are all active in after school activities like the Drama Club and SASA. "Singing makes it easier for us to deal with what we go through" says Jenn. Last year, Jenn performed at a wedding, the group performed four songs at a vow renewal, sang two songs at the Sussex County car show, and also performed at a Sweet 16. They aren't stopping there, though. This year, they are already booked for 2 car shows, 1 motorcycle show, 1 baseball game, and are waiting for more dates from other baseball teams. They are also ready to record their full length CD, which will begin being recorded this summer. "It seems like it's so close, yet so far away" Megan says, after hearing advice from PJ Bardot (from pop group Huckapoo) who told them to "get out there as much as they can". "Everyone is really supportive right now. I mean, we've got some jealous people and just some people who don't like us or our music at all, but we understand that everyone is going to have their own opinions. We're just glad we're doing what we are and finally getting [ourselves] out there for everyone to see."
