Essence Of is the result of Mickey Finn & L Double catching Dust21 play live in Londons, Brixton Telegraph in 2003. From that moment and Micky's & L's reaction it was inevitable that Dust21 were about to be taken seriously as a live drum n bass band.

DUST21 came together in the latter part of 1999 as a live urban dance act. Based in South London originally, they quickly came to impress a local following with their distinctive sound of beats, breaks, grooves, and guitars, whilst
attracting the attention of many DnB industry veterans.
In a unique set up, DUST21 incorporate a huge live element, with programmed loops and samples. Their set up has changed drastically since the beginning of 2004 when their sound went from a unique dance blend of hip trip hop, drum n bass, and urban soul, into a more drum n bass dancefloor direction, with the introduction of new band members.
Make no mistake about the fact that DUST21 are a live band and their sound is very much alive, -songwriting comes first, and the band embrace each others diverse influences.
