As the driving force behind AfterhoursNY.com & SINSation Sound, Don Stone has quickly become a leader in the Upstate NY underground dance music community. Over the past few years with the help of several other promoters/DJs, Don has helped resurect a once dying scene and brought it back to where it belongs. A lack of true community in the area resulted in the birth of AfterhoursNY.com in 2002. A community website for Upstate NY concentrating on all aspects of Dance music. Now in it's 4th year of operation, the website has become a focal point for nightlife in Albany NY and it's surrounding areas.
With over 15 years of clubbing & promotion experience under his belt, Don decided to finally get behind the decks 6 years ago. From there he truly learned of his love for House music. After Spinning at numerous after-hours and one-off parties through the first few years , Don finally started a weekly residency for Uforia Entertainment in 2004. With this residency under his belt, Don moved onto a residency at Luna Lounge in Saratoga, NY where he has the opportunity to entertain nearly 1000 clubbers weekly . In addition to this, in 2005 Don branched out into the regional circuit with bookings in Canada, and across New York State. Through these events he has gained affiliations with Uforia Entertainment and Gravity Underground. He has also had the pleasure of working with top talent including Charles Feelgood, Angel Alanis, Portia Surreal, Samsara and Anthony Martinez to name a few.
Don's musical influence comes from his extensive time as a clubber. Funky & Tribal are the best words to describe his House music. Travels to Ibiza, NYC, Montreal, and WMC in Miami just to enjoy the experience has shaped Don's sound. "I try to bring a piece of each great clubbing experience I've had to my own sets so the crowd can experience what I've experienced. The vibe the music creates is something I have felt before, and I try to bring that same feeling to the crowd."
Utilizing CD as well as vinyl from the first day's of DJing, Don has realized the importance of technology for today's DJ. With the aid of computers and software such as Ableton Live, music production has now become a focal point of Don's DJ career. New remixes, mash-ups and original tracks keep Don's sets new and fresh.
2006 marked the begining of SINSation Sound. As head of this new label, Don's focus has been to bring his and other artist's music to the rest of the world. Where AfterhoursNY concentrated it's focus on Upstate NY, SINSation takes a more global approach. It's main goal is to promote quality House & EDM music across a much wider landscape than AfterhoursNY can. The label is currently home to artists in Upstate NY but has already sparked interest from producers in the UK, Germany and as far away as Australia.Your musical influences
